well need help again? installed a dvd rom drive in an older gateway computer was working fine untill i tried to update firmware. now it is gone. does not even show up in bios. tried using mtkflash still not recognizing file source? any suggestions

hi, i tried to update firmware samsung sd616 dvdrom drive in older computer running windows me ( gateway ) the dvd rom came out of dell computer 8200. was working fine, after flash with the dell original update that i got from this page yesterday. now it does not even show up in bios i am trying to use mtkflash now, it will initalize than err: fail to identify the flash type? thanks for the reply any suggestions on bin file or i might be doing wrong

You have to be more specific.
I cannot guess which exact firmwares you have used...

hi, i tried all samsung sd616 that i could find on your page and cdfreaks
e306com, f311del.binrpc, f006del.bin, f506com. using mtkflash it will just hang there and it seems to want to flash but does not, could drive gotten ruined?

Please look at the sticker on top of the drive and post the exact model number and firmware info here.

There are many SD616 versions available.

hi again. still trying almoast thought i had it showed up in bios then disappeared again. the fcc id : a3lsd616 december 2001 i have tried firmware e308del.bin and f500mmmf.bin, f500com.bin few others

On the sticker there should be stated the correct drive model name and the firmware applied when shipped.

hi found a sticker on the back that looked interesting (sd-616b/dwr 63erc05927 f/w=f000 the sticker is white

would love some more input on flashing my samsung sd616b piece of junk. i still can't believe i lost this drive. well it shows up once in a while after trying to flash with mtk 1.83 but, always get an error unable to open IDE port or it justs hangs there and does not appear tp be doing anything. if anyone has a suggestion on what i am doing wrong i would love some help. also have used sfdndos program from samsung but there is no drive to work with when i try it. thanks mike w

hi just wanted to know if i should give up trying to save this dvd-rom drive, havebeen using sfdndos flash end up with skip right when it is almost complete. i do not seem to be having any luck with mtkflash on this drive sd-616b anyone run into this before i feel so close that i hate to give up!!!!
