Hi, wenn I try to update the Firmware of my DVD burner, i got the error message "The Disc Tray is closed. Please press the [OK] button after opening a Disc Tray". Now i ask how i can open the Disc Tray to solve the problem. I tried also to use the searcg function, but havent found anything useful.

Thanks for your replies.

Edit: Nevermind, got it now open. Now there is another problem. The updater gives the following message "F/W Loader does not apply to the DVD/CD-RW Drive that I am using. Press [EXIT] to continue.". But if i try to use another firmware (for the 842s drive), it doesnt even get that far. It doesnt check for the opened disc tray and just says, that this firmware is for another drive.

If it isnt for my drive, for what drive is it ?

My Burner (Nero Info Tool)

Firmware from this site

Firmware from this site after executing the exe

Maybe the firmware is falsely named on this site as there is no letter S mentioned.

Thanks for your reply.

I have the same problem with mine. Maybe this will not work with Toshiba Laptop drives with the same model number. I have a Toshiba Satellite M45 laptop... This firmware says Sony OEM drives... Is there no way this will work with a Toshiba?

Here is the info I copied from DISC Info:

Hey buddy,

I was searching through the forums and found a quick solution that has worked for me so far on 2 movies and did not require the use of any firmware flashing...

My drive is locked into region 2 (western europe), but I am using VideoLAN (VLC) to run region 1 movies. You must have DVD43 running in the background. The combination of these two programs has allowed me to run a few movies without changing firmware, since this firmware refuses to work on my Toshiba OEM drive.

You might want to give it a shot :).

Much love,

Eduardo

Samsung Pleomax is crap media.

The Matshita burners want to be feed with GOOD quality media like TY and Verbatim.

Sorry for bumping my old thread, but is there a way to remove the drive check etc to be able to install this firmware? I mean like FlashFix for Lite-On Drives.

@ BrollyLSSJ,

Suggest attempting to install this particular Firmware in the Safe Mode.

If installing the Firmware in the Safe Mode fails obviously the particular Firmware you are attempting to flash your Mashita UJ-841S is not the correct Firmware UpDate for your particular Mashita UJ-841S Drive.

The remedy then to obtain the correct UpDate Firmware for your particular Mashita UJ-841S Drive is to contact the Manufacture of the particular Computer Model that the Mashita UJ-841S Drive is installed in for the correct UpDate Firmware.

Regards,
Coaster
