Can a DVR-100 be flashed to this DVR-110 based firmware?

I assume I need to use the DVRFlash utility since I am sorta cross flashing, that it different hardware codes. I have a post in that forum asking if the DVRFlash supports the DVR-100 models, since I did not see it listed.

I thought from reading the cdrlabs review of the DVR-100 that it is actually the retail version of the OEM DVR-110. But I could not find confirmation of that in these forums. Seems like very few people here own the DVR-100.

I generally buy OEM also from newegg, but BestBuy has a sale on the DVR-100 right now for $59. I think that is a very good deal.

Quote:
UPDATE: checked newegg, damn they have the 110 for $39.

Should I buy the 110 vs the 100? Sounds like they are pretty much the same drive. Just would like to confirm that.

8.39 with bitsetting :)
if the 8.38 is based on buffalo firmware, we have to wait first for a buffalo release

I too am anxiously awaiting the buffalo 8.39 firmware. It will be my last bit of 110 use before I get my hands on the 111.

Me too
I am a little desapointed of the performance of pioneer 110
I hope a final upgrade of firmware will solve my problem of burning quality , but I am very interested in pioneer 111 which first burning test are impressive

They key to success is to use reliable media - that would count for any burner on the planet.

That has nothing to do with the burner but your standalone!

It cannot "know" such a new mediatype, especially with RW media you should be very careful!!

I have the "same" media here since a while, no problems so far.

I meant that the Pioneer DV 470 standalone doesn't know and cannot handle such newly RW media like Ricoh +RW 8x. ;)

They are now gathering dust in the draw.

Thats the way it goes sometimes. :(

The player above that I said didn't work was infact a new LG Divx player too. I was surprised as that thing plays just about everything.

You guys rock! Thanks for all of the hard work and effort. I am very new at this and it has been extremely confusing and time-consuming to figure out, but I just upgraded to the modified 8.37. This is exactly what I needed.

Unfortunately, the Pioneer burner is still not great (Using Verbatim 2, 6, and 8X +R DL), but at least it now does what I need it to do - namely bitsetting. The other features are great to have too.

Can't wait for a mod of the 8.39 which is now out. Any chance it's forthcomming?

Question:

I have a 110D. If my main concern is bitsetting, and not region codes or DVD-RAM, does it make more sense to switch to 8.39 now?

I am assuming I would benefit from the new media types with 8.39, or does the modified 8.37 work better?

ANY firmware suitable for the 110 burners will set the Booktype for +R DL media to DVD-ROM.

Updating to 8.39 patched is what I've done. ;)

the only difference will be better media compatibility, but its better to have the latest 8.39

hi, when applying the latest 8.39 RPC1 firmware from tdb is it normal for the drive to still be detected as a pioneer, or should it be a buffalo? i did the firmware earlier, and the drive is detected as pioneer still.

The drive will remain as PIONEER, by using DVRFlash you could see the different kernel applied...
