I'm glad to hear of such good results!

Did you just use FlashFix to patch the official SOHR-5238S firmware update from liteonit.com so that it would allow you to flash the Liteon firmware onto your Sony drive?

Using FlashFix would make the conversion process easier, but your method is safer.

Just note that you MUST check the Update Bootcode option in that "flashtool" aka LtnFW when you flash these drives since they are "NOEEPROM" drives.

Finally got the driver working with the new firmware thnx to you guys. Thnx a lot. but... can't we be perfect  ? Are there (probably, i'm not sure) 24 bytes indicating the name of the device into the .bin? What if we change them with a hex editor? so the name will be the SONY CRX230ED and we got a perfect job done for us? thnx for reading this
CU !

Yes, you can do that. I've done that for many Sony drives in the past...

is it possible to do this with the CRX320A also? i just bought one and would like the 52X turned on all the time instead of having to push the eject button for 5 seconds to get that feature

"CRX320A" is a meaningless name. Install the drive and see how it is recognized in Device Manager. It may be one of a few different drives.

Yeah, I know that and I've tried with several versions of mtkflash. The problem is that when it tries to access the drive, i hear a low buzzing sound...

How long does it usually take mtkflash to flash any drive and are you sure that it supports CRX230ED?
