Please let us handle these requests...

We will get to new releases as time permits.

Sorry, you must have missed the memo about us being cranky bastards. We'll try to control ourselves.

The point here is that our patching schedule is something only we have control over. We have not communicated a time line for this firmware. It will be done as time and priorities permit.

 good luck guys, everyone lets give them room to work their magic.
ps: is there a way to edit the firmware so the computer detects it as normal but displays a custome name instead of BENQ DD DW1620 ? :?

It is probably possible to change the name, but such things have dubious benefits, and make things more difficult to update in the future.

RPC1 firmware is now available. http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DW1640

:-k no worries cause I have a cross flash utility for BENQ and clone drives! That is why I have a BenQ B7W9 dvd burner and not an I/O Magic B7C9.
Force flashing drives is now one of my favorite things to do! I am spending hundreds of hours scouring the internet for all programs and firmware homemade or not. so far I am doing good but still have a few itches that I can't quite scratch. like the custom name thing, cause I saw an attemp at this for LITE-ON drives but it only lets U change the product name to one from a list. That is not true customisation. There program (from RPC1.org) bragged about letting people customise to there hearts content but it was sadly exadgerated. It is great for what it is don't get me wrong but I have a hex editor and REC Studio(a decent free program decompiler)and I found a possable place to change the name in the B*** firmwares. my only problem is not knowing enough about machine code and program code to know if the firmware is "botched" or not. mabey if I can find out how to make a virtual B*** firmware based drive or someone tells me what to edit i can get success. But untill I know for sure I can't risc blowing my drive,Ilike it to much.... PS is There a way to recover This kind of drive from a bad flash?

sorry I rambled on to much :( I just had a brain overload and then a brain fart :x . so i just wanted to thank you Vlad and Igor, The programming gods =D> Someday I hope to follow in your footsteps and learn to reverse engineer the world  but until then I will be content eating your table scraps and hoping to learn a thing or two along the way. :) Your B7W9 RPC1 firmware was a great success and I had no problems updating my drive to a new firmware ,once it allowed me to update:wink:  so Tonight I will give your newest firmware a go and post my findings later :P I am still impressed though, You guys work faster than customer support at BENQ, I/O magic, and Nvidia! Praise to the Programing Gods once more \:D/
