yes I admit I probably haven't. I appreciate their work none the less.

Wondering, is there a third party manufacturer making the 110 that supports bitsetting like Piodata and Buffalo?

Piodata is a trully bad joke. Did you checked his web site? All you see there is just v1.14 and v1.18 for 108DX released a LONG time ago (2004!).

http://www.piodata.com/downloads/

Anyway I wonder why the ppl want bitsetting when the drive (firmware) already convert any DVD+R/-R (including DL) into DVD-ROM format making compatible with a lot DVD-Players around.

any word Gradius on how the RPC-1 firmware went from The Dangerous Brothers?

Just need to fix some checksums (I hope only that) before to release it.

Thanks a bunch gradius, this is much appreciated. I guess the decryption of the firmware went easier/faster than expected. I hope for mods on future firmware releases.

Thanks to the Brothers this time, they're into the code now. I'm just supporting nuts tests and some experience on Pioneer drives. :P

Sorry Gradius, but this is not the case with the firmwares beside the PIODATA one, eg. from Pioneer. They all do bitset DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM, but not the SL media. :wink: Same procedure for the 109 with the BUFFALO firmware.

Yes, for a second there I was getting really excited reading Gradius' post thinking that the 110 did support SL +R media right out of the box just like rip lock removed. Oh well, wishfull thinking I guess. I suppose we will have to wait for a third party firmware or do without.

Ah, ic. Since I never used DVD+R (and never will), didn't know that, hehe.

Perhaps I'll only use couple DVD+R DL just to see.

So'k dude. We all have learn somehow (they say confusion is the best state to learn in, you know? ;)

Anyway - the simple set of booktypes the DVR-110D/pure abide by:

Code:
DVD-RAM media --> DVD-RAM booktype field
DVD-R media --> DVD-R booktype field
DVD-R DL media --> DVD-R booktype field
DVD-RW media --> DVD-RW booktype field
DVD+R media --> DVD+R booktype field
DVD+R DL media --> DVD-ROM booktype field (booktype modified)
DVD+RW media --> DVD+RW booktype field (unless pre-set to DVD-ROM in a writer capable of setting BTF, in which case only a FULL format + TOC erase will send back to DVD+RW booktype)

Anyway... i eventually got one of these yesterday, imediatley updated to 1.17 and it has a strange problem, burned 4 ritek g05's on this, 2 at 6x and 2 at 8x... when i cycle the tray the drive doesn't recognise there is a disk in it... it recognises disks burned on other drives, it even recognises an audio cd it burned but not its own dvd-r???
p.s. all the disks it burned play fine on other roms.... :?

pps Don't asume anything unless you know...

Cycling the tray with the eject button when auto insert notification is switched off will cause a similar problem & can be overcome by using the right click eject method to eject followed by the F5 key. This sometimes has to be done several times before it will recognise the disc. This is a Windows problem and happens with most DVD burners in similar situations.

Its defo the drive, auto insert notification is working fine on the system with all the drives, including the 110 with cd roms and dvds it aint recorded itself, tried right click eject f5 about 20 times in a row, don't work with 110 burned disks but does with 109 disks in the 110 or anything else you care to mention even dvd ram.

Please try the following five possibilities:

i. First, move the drive to a totally seperate EIDE channel, then try reading/writing

ii. Try the drive in a physically seperate system entirely, then try reading/writing

iii. Are you per-chance running any additional software EIDE drivers such as Nforce based EIDE uarts? If so - uninstall them. If not - install them....then try reading/writing.

iv. Have you tried totally seperate MID's? It's worth checking to see if MCC002/3/4 codes do it, or for that matter some CMCMAG.xxx style stuff....

v. Have you tried a different writing engine/more robust writing engine? What are you using currently? What version?

Let's not assume a physical problem yet. Let's hope the hardware is ok. :D

hey Gradius, how did that RPC-1 mod go on the 110 firmware?

Wondering as well, even if a firmware was modded is there even a means to have it flashed?
