Now that 16x drives are very common and surprisingly cheap, I am curious about how wide-spread it has become. So, what is the speed of the DVD-writer that you currently use the most?

Surely it doesn't. That speed doesn't exist for RW yet.

I think I lived almost all DVD+R/Dual format stages...

HP DVD 100i (Lack of +R support) $470 VERY EXPENSIVE $$$
HP DVD 200i (First generation +R drives)
Liteon LDW-400 (Dual format) converted to SONY DRU-500A
LG GSA-4040b (DVD-RAM support)
LITEON SOHW-832S (DVD+R DL support)
PIONEER DVR-110D (DVD-R DL support) Cheapest drive I bought...

All of them still working and I love my HP DVD 200i drive. Has the best quality burns @ 2.4x Is the slowest drive, but it still has the best burning quality!!!! I choose it as my external USB 2.0 drive

And the Liteon 832s is the best DVD and CD reader. Not best quality but the most used and versatile drive. I love this drive for its bitsetting feature.

Now I'm testing my new Pioneer DVR-110D. It doesn't like Ritek +R DL media, but I very impressed with +RW burning quality. I liked it had the +R SL bitsetting. The only feature that it needs to be perfect... Not a good reader... Not tested -R media yet in this drive. I bought it two days ago

I own two, both in the same PC
So until last night my max speed was my Sony DRU-110 at 2.4 X +RW with no +R support. Left that one in for a reader primarily and added a Pioneer A09-XLC at 16X +R/-R 6X DL. Until now I used the Sony in Tandem with a 40X Ricoh CDRW for copying CD's. Just getting into the DVD fray. I will be back with questions and asking for suggestions. Oh yea, when I bought the Sony, I did pay an arm and a leg for it.(Compared to about $60 with rebate from Pioneer, at Fryys for the 16X)

Bumping an old thread.

Had a Pioneer 105 that worked great, I gave it away because I wanted to upgrade to a burner that supported faster write speeds and D/L burning.
So, now I have a 109 and that is my burner.
