After flashing my CRX230E into QYS3 the max write speed is 40x instead of 52x. I tried to downgrade to QYS1 and then re-upgrade to QYS3 but the max write speed is still 40x. Is there something I can do?
Besides solving the problem with going back to an old version.
Thanx.

I reflashed to QYS3 and reinsralled nero, and now the thing is, when there isn't a disc in the drive, it gives me all the speed up to 52X.
However, when a disc is inserted into the drive, the maximum speed drops immediately to 40x, and there ain't no 52X listed. It happens with every media I have, including those that support 52X.

all sony drives have the turbo feature, meaning if you want to enable 52X speed you need to hold the eject button in for around 5 secs to enable the turbo, then it will show 52x, if you don't you will only have a max of 40x

I held it for around 5 sec, then there was a yellow light and it's gone, but nothing has changed, max speed is still 40x.

Yes but I'm using the same media I used before I flashed the drive.
Before I flashed it I was able to write at 52x speed with the same media I'm using now.

the CRX230E has the turbo feature, so unless you were holding the eject button in before, you cannot get 52x, unless you were using a patched liteon firmware

But I'm telling you I did. I never heard of such thing called Turbo, nevertheless I never held the eject button before. It might be possible that someone did it for me when I got the CDRW. All I know is I was able to write at 52x with the same media I'm using now, and now I can't.
If noone has a solution to this I think I'll just downgrade to QS0E or something hopefully that'll solve the problem...

QYS3 is the latest for the Sony CRX230E, so it looks like you will have to downgrade or flash a liteon firmware to it

Technically seen and to be picky, it can't be possible. "writing on the same media you've written to before -because it's CD-R-"
Is the mediabrand you've used BEFORE and NOW from the same spindle or batch? It could be that the media/code has changed even all other visual things remained the same....
What brand/media is it?

I meant I'm using exactly the same discs I used before. I tried even other kinds but still speed is 40x. I tried for examle MAXELL discs with 48x supported.

From where have you got QYS1 firmware??
If it will not work for you, maybe you would crossflash your drive to an LiteOn model.

this is baffling to me, as i have a spare Sony CRX230E, and thought i would install and see, i get max 40x normal, i only get max 52x when enabling the turbo feature via holding the eject button, so interesting. Hopefully you backed up the firmware before flashing, as i haven't seen QYS1 around anywhere

QS0E is a Liteon firmware. When you mean you are going to downgrade to QS0E, are you suggesting that you used to have a Liteon firmware in your drive? That would explain why you could use 52x before.
All QYS* firmwares are Sony versions with the write speed limited to 40x.
