try this step:
1. delete the IDE Channel (the one that the dvd drive connected) from Device Manager
2. shut down
3. unplug your IDE Cable from dvd drive
4. turn on computer, after it finished load, shut down again
5. re-plug your dvd drive, turn on computer, let windows(tm) detect it

try it...!
good luck

Do you know which specific firmware were on your drive before you've flashed it or have you made a backup of the firmware before??

I already did what you told me to, but windows still see it as _NEC ND-13000A, and it only reads CD and writes CD
I forgot to back it up before I flashed it. That's bad :( . Any firmwares or utility that's used to recover. I hope someone will post it up soon. I really love this drive because there won't be any errors from reading or writing since I got it. I only wanna flash because I want to write DVD -R/RW, but not successfully. Thanks for all advices.

(Sorry, my English is bad. Hope you all understand what I've typed here. :) )

I would flash back to 1000 or 1100 because that drive never were made for writing -R/RW. It's just a bonus that might work with some drives and the hack.

Hi,

I own this exatch same DVDRW NEC 1300A and I have it for 2 years was completely fine and never flashed any software before, but last week, I was new in the forum and looked might do good for the DVDRW, but now it wont read any single dvd,

justlike what 'gps' said, it could only write CDR and CDRW,

for juntok_abot, before you flash it, windows recognize your drive as DVD-RW even now is recognized as DVD-RW in drive D: but it's just when I inserted any DVD it just wont read them, but it will read CD 100% fine.. and CDRW ofcourse..

lastly, I kinda read this forum throughly for the last 2 weeks, but it seems that with all the info, I'm still couldnt verify which kinda of DVD-RW NEC ND1300A I'm having rite now, OEM? BULK? I really cant tell the difference.. it's white color, and I bought it in online store(which I forgot) and when I got it it doesnt have box, just in plastic with bolts, and 1cd

could you please any1 help me...

p.s. for the last two years, I've been burning 1000++ DVDs of Princo White label 1x ! and I still have them about 200+ DVDs please.. I cant waste the blank DVDs just like that.. please any1 help me...

thank you

Clean the lens of the drive.
If that doesn't help, it's probably dying. Nothing lasts forever...

For normal cleaning - no. For proper cleaning - yes.
Just use SEARCH, you will find detailed posts about this.

That's the thing you should know normally.
There is only revision 1.01 available for the ND-1000 - not much to choose from. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1466

i think you people maybe flashed the drive with firmware specially for hacked 1100@1300 so your original 1300 drive got problem...
from the thread, i read that herrie separate the firmware for genuine 1300 and for 1x00 drive...

As _chef_ have said, cleaning the drive is another way to solve this problem. I accepted and I did. I did it in 2 ways - first I cleaned it by using the DVD Cleaner that I bought from Fry's then I tested, It won't work. I've also tried to open the drive and using the Q-tip with warm water carefully to clean it one more time, but still got the same result. It's perfectly clean, it can read CD, CD-R/RW 100% good, also write CD-R/RW perfectly. I think that nothing to do wite the lense, there's something else.

This is the most problem that everybody has, I hope that one day someone who's good at programmer can solve this issue so we all can fix our drives to make it work again with happy. :)

You may want to have a look at what I did to mine here, It still works fine with no errors, It also writes at 4 times also now on only Sony dics and 2.4 on all other DVD discs but it works fine with every disc. Which it didnt before the flash with this version. The write speed is normal for cdr & cdrw speeds as well.

So I flashed with NEC ND-1100A 1.90 ver. And guess what , Everything worked and reads everything and burns dvd+ discs and burns and reads cdr cdrw again. What a night.
