i have a hugh problem. it seemed that i flashed my nec6500a wrong. after flashing it and rebooting the computer the cd drive wasn#t detected anymore. i can#t even open it

is there any way to fix this problem???

How and with what did you try to flash the drive?

I have big problem.
Buy 3 montg ago NEC ND 6100A for my Dell D600. He write X4 DVD and X16 CD-R. But he dont READ DVD-R. only DVD+R. I flash to high version - not help. Then I flash to ND 6500A on last version and he write DV+R/-R X8 and CD-R x24. Burn 5 DVD-Dual Layer nad 30 DVD+r ...all work perfect. But their I have problem. I CAN burn DVD-Dual ;( Nero show me some error "The ND 6500A is bad. I burn CD-R DVD+R, read this disc - no problem. All write 100% succes - but i can burn DVD+R DL. Minimalize Speed - not help. Burn at TEST - test is Ok - but burn - not possibly. I write to Dell Customer Care - He say - the DVD was bad.
Flash to oryginal version ND 6100A ... read Ok, DVD+r write ok - but DVD-Dual - not write.
Have Verbatim, Traxdata or Platinium - not wrtite ;(Ho know - why ??
Please - help me friend.

A lil bit confusing. Is DL the only real problem?

You should always use VERBATIM or PHILIPS labelled DL media. They are recommended and should work with any DL burner without problems. Almost all burners/firmware have no write-strategy for the RITEK based DL media (from Ritek, RiDisc, Traxdata, Infiniti, Bestmedia/Platinum, etc.) and that's why they will produce bad burns or are not supported at all.

Any reason they don't include write strategies for ritek DL media? I hope the 109 supports this. The ritek DL discs are about $3 cheaper here in Canada. I have only been buying Verbatim due to the higher compatibility with them.
