I need new firmware for maxell 40x cd-drive model mcd-rom40. Please help me to upgrade it , my cd-drive can`t read some new writing cd .

In case you mean reading burned CD's, they were probably just burned too fast!

Dear friend , my cd drive can`t read some cds that prepaired by software companies and can`t read overburned cds (with capacity over 700 MB) that burned in 8x speed or less.please help me to upgrade the firmware.

There is no entry in the firmwares database, not even for Maxell CD-ROM drives. Maybe it's another LiteOn rebadge, maybe. But who knows for sure...

You could contact MAXELL support directly, maybe they can help you further.
Otherwise, probably the drive is just too old?
How old is it - what is the manufacturing date?

It`s made in FEB 1999 and manufactured by Hitachi company.
please help me.
