Just to inform You that I flashed my Asus DWR-1604P with the firmware from NIL and it works flawlessly.
It seems that I have now a standard Pioneer A-08.
Just to be on the sure side, I burn with 2x greater speed than the disc is certified and it works without problems.
 Thanks NIL!!!

Give us same other news ... I have an ASUS 1604P and I intend to do this update from 1.10(ASUS) to 1.14(Pioneer&NIL)

One more happy dude has managed to flash an Asus DWR-1604P with the firmware from NIL, so fare it seems to work ok.
Belove is a picture from Discinfo.exe after flash.
And here are the information from Nero 6.3

Many thanks for another nice release. I just finished flashing my 108 and testing with g03 media. Burned at 16x instead of the lock at 1x that it was at. Burn went well no problems at all. Playback was great.
I kinda expexted some jitters at this speed burning but had none. I did notice that it seemed to back down to around 8x after a bit in the burn but imo that would be a good thing. Now I am glad I got many of these disks when they where avalable here.
Again many thanks and keep up the good work.
Also if there is somewhere to make a donation for nil would someone point me in the right direction. In the way of a link or something. I think my donation for the 106 went to another one of you guys and would like to make sure this one will go to nil.

Get back to earth and realize that the bitsetting thing is:
- Overhyped to death
- Not required if you burn on -R media (except on very very rare occasions). Yes, -R media are MORE compatible than +R (because they don't need all that bitsetting crap to be recognized by players)
Now, I'm sorry if you have a bunch of +R media to use, but I will personally not do a bitsetting patch.

I keep getting verify errors on on about 50% of the burns I do with my Pioneer 108. I have std 1.14 firmware, checked I have DMA enabled, reseated the IDE cable, and am using an good quality ATA133 cable.
It's the master on my secondary IDE channel, the other device is a NEC2500a writer.
I've tried several media, all DVD-R, like G04 and some good quality Verbatims.
It's driving me insane, and costing me a lot in discs !
When I look at the Nero log there are loads of lines that appear to indicate some kind of timeout like this...
19:42:37 #19 Text 0 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1284
19:42:37.666 - PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108\H2 T0 : Queue again later
Then I end up getting the verify error, like this...
19:58:20 #131 Phase 81 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1853
Data verification failed
Please, does anyone have any ideas?
My system is an Athlon 1900 with 768Mb RAM, should be up to the job??
Dave.
