At last, DVRFlash has been ported to MacOS X.
With this tool, PIONEER DVR-104, 105, 106 & 107 can have their firmware updated. No need to plug the drive in a PC!
IDE/ATAPI, USB, USB2 and FireWire drives can be updated.
All I did is port DVRFlash to OSX, and gather firmware patched by others. Thanks go to: Agent Smith, >NIL:, Gradius and all the guys from rpc1.org for their invaluable help!
Thank you to the Mac&Video team for testing and helping!
Before you use them, a few words: * USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. * These firmwares are not endorsed by PIONEER. * Except for the DVR-104, there is NO WAY to return your drive to an Apple approved firmware. * Modifying your drive's firmware will void its warranty. * Proper burn of non approved media is not guaranteed! * Only for PIONEER DVR-104,105,106,107. NO OTHER DRIVES. [Edit by dhc014: DVR-K12 drives should also be supported] * Don't feed the animals.
You can find ready-to-use kits at http://www.macetvideo.com/flashpioneerosx/flashpioneerosx.html
This page is in french but download links are sooo easy to find
After downloading, just double click on the PIONEER DVR-10x Updater icon and follow instructions.
Also see LasVegas' step-by-step guide for using DVRFlash on a Mac manually.

Hello bonjour,
This is quite a good news for a sad sunday afternoon.
I know this has been asked many many times, but in the PC context.
Now, are these patches compatible with external firewire drives????
Thanks 1'000'000 times.

Is it possible, with this DVRFlash to OSX port application, to patch other drives.
Exemple. I download a RPCI firmware patch for my Liteon 811s
I tel this DVRflash app to patch this drive with this firmware, and I'm done.
Is it possible ?
Thanks for your reply

Thank you xvi!
I have one question, since I don't need to use the patched firmware, but I want to upgrade my drive (107D) with the official firmware (from version 1.09 to 1.15).
Downloading the official 1.15 firmware, I only have the file "R7100107.115". I don't have the kernel file. I assume the kernel has not changed. Am I right?
Can I use the kernel file that come with your patch ("R7100007.113") and the official firmware "R7100107.115"? (of course you have to modify the files name in "PIONEER DVR-107 Updater.command")
Do you think this will work???

Yes. I know the package that are on Mac et Video are only for thoses drives.
My question is : It there a way to use the App XVI have created to update others drives with the apropriat firmwares.
Because the way it work makes me think it is possible. But I would like XVI to be clear about that. Yes or not, he's app will aloud others drives to be updated. If not, does further development of this app could aloud it.
Again, thanks for a clear reply.

PIONEER DVR-104,105,106,107.
OK, to be accurate, let's add the PIONEER DVR-SK12D.
NO OTHER DRIVES.

What the hell does that question mean? The entire purpose of the "firmware updater" is to update the firmware. What the firmware itself does is the important thing.

I think I know why, if I'm right, it'll be easy.
I mailed you.

Excuse my ignoranace but i'm quite new to this whole thing. If you update the firmware to the RPC-1 version, is it then impossible to update it with an official version later. I understand you can't do this with the same revision but can you do it with a later one?
Don't know why you would want to, but just incase.
Cheers.

Many THANKX, great job xvi!
I "upgraded" my external 106D before using VirtualPC, to be able to do it directly is nice.
I just tried it using the "-v" option alone, and your prog sure found my drive.
A thankfull Mike

xvi what about scsi ?
i explaine myself:
i know someone that has a powermac 8500 upgrade in G4/700 (sonnet)
and has a pioneer 107D attached to a PCI card "2 BUS ATA-2"
he can boot and use his 107D normally but this PCI card make mac os (10.3) see the drive as a scsi one !
is it dangerous to give a try on this patching?
do you know if it'll work or not !
Thanks again for your knowledge and involvement in all this !
