this fixed my drive after a bad flash killed it
make sure you have model DD0401 before attempting this.
Also, this should only be used on drives that are simply dead.
No lights, no eject, etc.
my drive was an I/O Magic IDVDRW8D
it show's up as GENERIC DVD RW 8XMAX
it will also work for an optorite dd0401

this is a bootable .iso file that needs to be burned to a cd
http://tdb.rpc1.org/cworks/DD0401_RESCUE.RAR
thanks to Brother Vlad for hosting it for me

the one on my site is a bootable floppy image

We're all out of Donkey and Mules at the moment, Could you email the file so we can host it here?

You can use MSI Live Update utility to update the firmware from 120E to 150D.

@cakevin
these are the files that came from Optorite and i don't have a 150D.bin file anyways but you can try the hacked 150E f/w that i have on my site

@Kt6
I think for the DD0201 you use the dos flash with the /f switch
don't do it in a dos box create a dos boot disk and do it from there
it may take up to 10 mins and look like it's not doing anything but don't reboot until it says its done
Code:
dvflash 0201_217.BIN /f

i don't have this drive or the files but this is what i was told from someone
you might find it here http://tdb.rpc1.org/
if it works please post back
