Got a Pioneer 107D two months ago.
Using 1.13 RPC2, because I got a dvd-116 RPC1 that I use for ripping and import dvdz.
No coaster so far, using Maxell dvd+rw 4x, Maxell dvd+r 4x and Maxell dvd-r 4x.
Still waiting for some 8x media, but I don't burn dvdz often (2 dvdz per week lol) so 4x is ok for the moment.

in pIII 667 and 256 sd-ram. It really works with no problem unless you don't try to make your own dvd movie

Well I'm getting a new burner, an NEC ND-2500A. I'm selling my LiteOn LDW-401S@411S@811S. I will miss 40x CDR and 24x CDRW though.

Sold my LiteOn 401@811S and bought an NEC ND-2500A.
It burns those cheap & nasty discs perfectly too! Has Herrie's DVD+R DL firmware on it.
I chose this drive because:
1. The local wholesaler stocks these drives.
2. Has burn qualities that compete with Pioneer drives
3. DVD+R DL support

Yes I do Own a Pioneer DVR-106 and a Pioneer DVR-107, both on macs.
I have run succesfully the firmware update on the 107, installing it on a PC and then running the patch.
With the 106 didn't work, but I used another PC, and I think there is the problem.
Anyway both are grat drives.

On my desktop I have a Sony DRU700A (dual layer) and on my laptop a Ricoh RW8160 (FujitsuSiemen's choice, not mine).
Does anyone know where I can find the Teac DVW24E (for laptop)? I've searched with no luck so far.
It will be a great improvement over what I have now on my laptop, but no store seems to have it.
