I downloaded the two firmware files and the flashing program for the Pioneer 107D burner but whenever i dbl click the flash.exe from the windows executable a quick screen pops up then it dissapears, i can't even tell what it says.
Tried looking in the readme but apparently this issue isn't addressed. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok I downloaded both the firmware files (the kernel and the other bigger one). I extracted them to a folder on the desktop. Now I downloaded the flash program and extracted that. I double clicked the windows program and a little dos prompt popped up but it immedietly went away. I know its kinda confusing, and trust me, I am really confused as well, but it looks like its not working.

LOL does that help w/ anythuing? :?

Yes, it does help.

Open a DOS-Shell and go to the folder where the flasher & the firmwares are stored. You should have at least 1 firmware file and the DVRFlash program listed there.
Flash.exe? What?

Enter a command like
Code:
DVRFlash -v X:

(X: has to be replaced with the driveletter assigned to your drive).
Please post the exact output then here.

Seems that the program is not there.
Change Dir to the folder where it is stored and try again!

Chef: He may not have downloaded the recommended upgrade from here. It doesn't sound as though he has DVRFLASH.

Inam: Please can you list the files you have as part of the firmware upgrade set. In particular, do you have DVRFLASH.EXE or FLASH.EXE or UPGDVD.EXE or something else?

UPGDVD.EXE is the official Pioneer upgrade utility and it's known to be troublesome
DVRFLASH.EXE is what's recommended on here as being the best utility

You mentioned FLASH.EXE, which isn't familiar in this context - so leads me to wonder where your firmware came from.....

By the way, you DO NEED to extract the Zip file to a directory on your HD - If you're using WinZip or some such, if you double-click the executable in the WinZip window without extracting it, it will not be able to find the firmware image files and will abort immediately.

Yeah, probably you are right.

Inam, please download both DVRFlash.exe & the firmware file you want to flash, unpack the firmware file and put all files in the same folder.

You can get DVRFlash & firmware files from Flash's site here.

Seem that you need to learn some basics.

START > RUN > cmd > ENTER

Hello,
I had the same problem as you.
You have to extract the files in your name directory.

Example: when the dos prompt says: c:/documents and settings/name:
Then you have to extract the files in the directory 'name'. After that you give the command: DVRFlash -vf I: R7100007.113 R7100107.113
In this case 'I:' is the DVR drive letter.

For me was the drive letter D (maybe for you another letter, maybe E)

Succes

Seems that it is not necessary to flash the kernel(file) here too.

Code:
DVRFlash -v X: R7100107.113

should work.

You have a lot of basics to learn before you even think about flashing your drive's firmware. Here's Google's suggestion: http://www.colorado.edu/geography/gcraf ... shelp.html

after being daunted by the task of flashing my Pioneer 107D i came across this thread and figured it out. thanks!

inam.. its very simple.. as i just found out.. i'll show you what i did.
i'm assuming you are running XP
1.Download DVRFlash extract the win32 folder in the zip to a folder on your desktop you can make called flash or something.
2. then download the firmware files and extract these files to the same location.
3.Open command prompt. Start -> Run -> type cmd, press enter
4. Now the command prompt will be set in a certain folder. mine was C:\Documents and Settings\G> yours may be C:\Documents and Settings\Inam> or something.
5. Copy all the files from the flash folder (not the folder itself, just the files within it) on your desktop and paste them to the above directory mentioned. (The one your command prompt opens with).
6. Once you have copied them enter your C:\Documents and Settings\inam folder or whatever and you should see a win32 folder and some firmware files. Cut the files from the win32 folder and paste them in the C:\Documents and Settings\inam where your firmware files are.
7. this means you should have a C:\Documents and Settings\inam folder which has the firmware files, some readmes and dvrflash in it
8. now open command prompt (if it isnt already open)
9. i'm assuming you have the r7100107.113 firmware files
10. if that is the case type this into your command prompt
dvrflash -vf I: r7100107.113
11. if your drive isnt an I: drive replace i with the according letter.
12. make sure you have no discs in your drive.
13. once you have entered the command its just a case of answering the questiones. (y/n). you enter yes..and after a minute it should work for you. (i hope)
good luck with it.. i hope i helped
