Well, First of all sorry for my english, I am not from Usa.
I bought this drive (a cdrom, Lg GCR 8523B) in $15 in a rebate, I thought it was a good reader, or at least a decent cd rom
But it's the slowest drive I ever seen!!! I can use a microscope to see the bits in the cd and read them faster than this piece of crap.
Well, I read somewhere that this problem can be fixed upgrading the firmware of the cdrom, but I can't find the firmware
My questions are: 1. Is there any update firmware for this drive? 2. Where can I find it?

I can't download the firmware
It says

Every day that it spends I realize that this cdrom is literally PURE CRAP. Now, suddenly, without no change or anything, the drive doesn't play audio cds. You press play and suddenly the track stops and nothing sounds. What a crap. I already check cd player options and everything is fine.
DON'T EVER BUY A LG CDROM.
Combo drives are the same, I have one and gives me a lot of problems, I don't know If it is my bad luck but.... Well, if you want something good then get a Plextor drive, or Hp drive.

De hecho tengo que confesarte algo, yo no he cambiado mi firmware,. mi unidad trae la version 1.02.. pero me da hueva desconectar algunas cosas para realizar la actualizaci

Bueno pues acabo de actualizarle el firmware. Hoy tengo el 1.03. La verdad no veo mucha diferencia, la lentitud del lector es la misma y para ser sincero me arrepiento de haber comprado esta cosa.
Tengo un lector marca samsung y es mucho mejor que este Lg, este apenas y llega a los 12x cuando se supone que es de 52x, yo pienso que esta cosa es literalmente una mierda. No s

2. Yep! LG sucks! I have anther CDROM, a noname one. It is 5-6 years old and is MUCH faster than this one!
1. !Que bien que hablo un poco de espanol!
2. !Si! LG chupa! (creo que asi se dice)! Yo tengo un otro CDROM "sin nombre". Tiene 5-6 anos y es mucho mas rapido que eso!
