How about a Router Firmware forum?

Lots of people want/try to add features to their Internet Gateway/Firewall/Routers. Many are made by the same company but have some features disabled etc. Like Zyxel manufacturered Netgears.

BTW I Luv the Firmware Forums Guys! Excellant work.

Hijacker, ADSL routers are very popular. I live in Korea now but I'm sure it's true elsewhere. ADSL routers are under US$100 now and provide a great firewall also in addition to their main purpose which is to turn one ADSL connection into a possible 250+ ethernet connections. However I really don't see what needs to be patched. I currently have a Zyxel Prestige 314 and they just put new firmware on their site and it does everything I want.

Hi, I have been searching for firmware for my router, and I found this thread. I am having issues with my router and I know other people with the same model are doing the same thing. I think you should consider a Router/Switch section as I am sure network admins have to do seaches too ;)

If anyone can help, my router is a Mentor Broadband Router, no model number. It is a linksys rebag, and I cannot find out which model it is in the linksys flavour (no images etc) so I cannoy flash it with one of those.

Thanks, dixon.

Is your router an old model? I have a Mentor ADSL-FR4, ver.B2 this was on the underside on a silver sticker.
I found a firmware update here:

http://www.mplextech.com/driver_list.as ... ec=1#id229

which is, I think a branch of Plextor. it was the only broadband router firmware on the site, I didn't look for modem versions though, could this be of any help to you? :)

By the way, what sort of issues? I'm also having problems with mine.

I think it would be a great idea to have a router/switch forum, because router are being sold everywhere and alot of people have routers/switches at home to share secure their internet connection.
I too have a router at home and am searching for firmware for it (see this thread) and this is the only place where I hope to find it.[/url]

If your looking for firmware for the mentor FR4 router then do a search for IBR400+ router firmware as they seem to be one & the same.
My Mentor came with firmware version 1.01.0095 but have upgraded it to 1.01.0099 with firmware for the IBR400+.
Its made by or for bestech in hong kong I think.

Thanks for the links I have found on this page, I've downloaded the (rather annonymous sounding) 'fr4' file and the ibr400+ update I found as the fist hit on a google search for that router.

I purchased a Mentor 4-port adsl router a few months ago (cheap but not significantly so). What the hell is up with this company ? They seem to have appeared from nowhere 3 years ago, produced 50 billion of the same unit, then dissappeared without a trace - not a single webpage devoted to them, they have left nothing but a small army of disgruntled consumers.

Does anyone know of a single good reliable place to get some support for these awful products (mine currently crashes about once an hour) I am loath to install the updates since I am sure they will either permanently crash the unit or make no difference - either way I'm dissapointed.

If anybody knows of a good resource please let me know.

That's impossible.

Your son has surely a non-static IP for his computer and maybe you are searching for the wrong one...

It's important to differ between INTERNAL IP and EXTERNAL IP address!!

Why not trying netstat, netview, ipconfig /all (etc.), route print etc.???
Also check for the correct subnet-mask, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls and static routes.

it is the internal ip address i cant find!

it had a dhcp list of all 3 computers on the network now i dont have any!

tried reseting still no list:(

i have to admit i am no expert and the instruction manual tells you to do this and that but doesn,t tell you how to do it!

edited to add it says i have no clients connected but all computers can connect to internet!

Ok then, I've just arrived at this place, so I'm not sure if you actually got round to putting this forum up, i'll look in a sec. But heres the problem.

Heres the situation.

2 computers, 1 internet connection.
1 comp: windows 98, to installed but not working PCI fast ethernet cards. One of which is built in, the other is a Mentor.
The other, XP home, and one working ethernet card (seemingly)
1 Mentor "4 port ADSL router"
Various cables. No website to look for help on.

The Goal: Both computers to be able to independantly connect to the internet, without one computer having to be on.

Firstly, i need to get a working driver for one of both of my apparent ethernet cards - the driver floppy that came with it wont work (maybe under windows98 anyway)
The readme file says that this is the driver name, and to specify a path to that location, but alas, i do so, and windows does not find the driver.

driver file: .\sisnic.sys
INF file: .\netoem.inf

Under the Device manager, the two ethernet cards have a yellow question mark. (p.s. - my MOBO is an ABIT NF7-M)

Now for the Router. We get all the lights to light up (Power, USB, 1x, ADSL)

And Pev's comp seemingly connects to a network at 10.0Mbs, however, we can not connect to the internet.

The instruction manual says to open explorer and type in "http://10.0.0.2" which should ping to the router, and open the setup section as a web page. this does not work.

The guy over the phone was no help at all. HELP!

I think that now, in 2k6, it's a good idea to reconsider the router firmware section.
