The last working one is "forum.rpc1.org"

Is this a DNS-Server problem or have your server problems?

The subdomains are working as good as all the rest, which means that they are experiencing the same problems that the forum is experiencing (see here), because when the forum brings apache down, it brings ALL of apache down, and that includes the subdomains.

And when Apache is out, your will get resolutions error on subdomains.

Apache restarts still happen about 80 times a day ( :( ), mostly between 10 AM -> 10 PM, and each restart takes up to 2 minutes, so it's no wonder you find that anything in rpc1.org is problematic.

But now that the new server has finally reached its final destination (after more than 1 month delay - grrrrrrr!!!! ) we can expect to make the Switch around mid February or before, so these problems will soon be a thing of the past. At long last now, we don't need to rely on [*Profanity*] ups like our host and can take the matters in our own hands, which means that we will have a rock solid brand new server. :P
Until then, please just be patient...

That is not what i mean. Some german DNS servers doesn't resolve the ip of www.rpc1.org anymore.

I think i can still access the forum because the ip was cached.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

[WIN]C:\WINDOWS\Desktop>ping www.rpc1.org
Unbekannter Host www.rpc1.org.

[WIN]C:\WINDOWS\Desktop>ping forum.rpc1.org

PING wird ausgeführt für rpc1.org [216.127.93.172] mit 32 Bytes Daten:

Besides that i'm also having some problems while acessing the forum area. Usualy i go to www.rpc1.com to see the news and then drive into the forum. But I can't click on the forum button because it will not redirect. I must click first on one of the posts that appear on the right of the page and then go into the forum index. This has happened in sevrall computers that i've tried to acess the forum... Maybe it's something wrong with me, and I admit that I havn't searched in the forum for anything reporting the same, but anyway this is just a report...

So that's why the server didn't seem that slow today. Maybe we should take a poll on who wants to keep Germany away in the future... ;)
Just kidding!

More serioulsy, it seems our host [*Profanity*] up again!!!
Normally, the primary DNS for all our domains (rpc1.org, rpc1.com, firmware-flash.com, etc.) should be ns3.neosurge.com, and the secondary server ns4.neosurge.com.
We have control over the ns3 server, but not over ns4.

Now, I know our host has been doing some modifications of his servers lately, and for some reason, our domains seem to be primarily served by ns4 rather than ns3 at the moment.
Only problem is, our host has also decided to shut down ns4.neosurge.com without warning us (!)

Therefore any of our domains queried with ns4 will not resolve 8O
Dammit, ns3 should be the main authority! Or, at worst, it should take over name resolutions for our domains when ns4 is down. But apparently root DNS' are ignoring this...

Anyway, I fixed up the DNS records (so that we DON'T use ns4) and they should be in the process of being updated by now (this can take between 24-48 hours). After that time, subdomains should answer properly again.

But this is yet another problem that would have been avoided had out new server been delivered on time (because we would have made the switch by now <sigh>).
For obvious reasons, we chose NOT to rely on any of our hosts servers for name resolution on the new server, but I didn't think this choice would have been vindicated so soon :(
