CD-RW Firmware [*Profanity*]...

i made a terrible mistake of installing a firmware for my Samsung SN-308 CD-RW thats known to cause problems for Dell computers! is there any way to fix the firmware?? (your site sais not to install the firmware on Dell computers, it causes a master/slave problem) dell didn't say this. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have inspected this drive on a Dell computer but avoided flashing it because of other people's issues.

If it is indeed only a master/slave problem then one solution might be to connect it to a desktop PC where it doesn't conflict with another IDE device o its channel. There are adapters available to do this but I can't tell you whether or not there is even a firmware which will set the drive back to the correct IDE setting for your laptop.

It's something worth playing with though

we got another drive. plus..were not sure how to hook the drive to a desktop PC. thanx anyways though.

Connect it by using an adaptor.
