Hi to all Im new here and sorry for my poor english, you can correct me if you want..

I bought in 2003-4 I dont remember well, the LG GCE 8520B writer and it never was any problems until I connected to internet and run eMule. If eMule is running, when the writer is burning the modem discoinnects.

Besides (eMule running or not) write error happens in the 94-99% of the burn of 900 MB CDs or the writer do strange sounds and hangs.First I used a Max Disc 900 MB 100min CDR,wich is false, cause I try to burn 876MB and the counter shows 99:40 aprox. Finally an write error occur and the CD was unreadable and Im afraid that this damaged the writer cause then I try simulate the burning with 861 and 853 MB and in the 98% the writer start doing strange sounds and I had to abort. Finally I zipped the movie and now was 826 MB the data to burn.Thinking in a CD error I used a Super MAX 2000 100 min 870 MB CDr.The simulation was well but the burn was wrong..another CD wasted..
I search the features of this writer in some webs and it says that it can burn a CD until 99:59 I suppose with firmware 1.0.What do you think?
Is the writer? Is the CDs?Is Nero?Is my soft/hardware?Is Superm.. err  Thanks.

Try to update with the latest firmware and better don't use such power-greedy softwares like emule, especially when burning.

1.04 is latest: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1544
Also available from here: http://us.lgservice.com/ > CD-ROM, side 4.

I didnt know that eMule can disconnect a modem, perhaps is for I have an AMD Duron 800 with 256 MB of RAM... can be?

Well,I click on the 1st link and another window appear,I click on 1.04 and after a moment another window shows that:

Save_as function is not temporarily supported.
Please just click & open the file. Then, save the file in your PDF reader.
Save_as function will be supported once again ASAP.

"click & open the file" means right click and save target as..?How I save the file in my PDF reader?.Excuse my ignorance..

If I click on the second link it opens the official LG web, I click on Device Driver and search my model but dont be. :? What I do?Thanks.

Edit: Oh fk! I click on New Post instead of Reply! How can I move it?
Too much time without posting.. 8-[

No problem, merged the threads together. ;)

You can find the firmware on LGs support site - direct linking in any way is not possible, thanks to LG...

1/ Click on Device Driver.
2/ Click on CD-ROM(Writer) under Product.
3/ Scroll down, go to page 4 (click on 4).
4/ Download the firmware.

Sorry for dont answer yesterday. Its NOT my computer.. :x

Well, I know why I didnt found my model in LG web, I put Windows XP in O/S and this firmware version is for Windows 98! Yesterday I clicked on my model and another window appeared. That showed that the purpose of this firmware was to improve writing performance, not solve problems during the burning of 900 MB CDs.
Besides the first step is to "Connect the drive to the secondary IDE channel as a master drive with no other devices connected to that channel. Start Windows and verify it can recognize the drive."
I dont know what and where is the "secondary IDE channel" in my PC and to connect it "as a master drive".Sorry again for my ignorance.. ](*,)
Thanx anyway..
