Mitsumi CR4804TE

Has anybody tried flashing a Mitsumi CR4804TE with the fimware for a CR4805TE ? Did it work, i.e. 8x instead of 4x ?

Do want to try this unless it works!!!

my mitsumi 4804 burner is on my old computer. But I haven't flash it with the firmware for the 4805. that's too risky for me to try. i'm crazy, but not that crazy.

I have flashed Mitsumi 4804TE with the last firmware (3.0d) but it still doesn't support discs 4x/8x/10x. Is there a way to fix this?

I flash the 4804te with 30d and it TRASHED the unit. Only the DRIVE motor spins and that changes wether it is on MASTER or SLAVE. Anyone have a hacked version of FLASH.EXE to force flashing of this drive ? I have the old firmware but FLASH.EXE will not recognize the drive. I sent an email to Mitsumi and they never responded. I tried ROMUPD too and no luck it says DRIVE BUSY

Any help recovering this puppy is appreciated...
