Hey all, I just thought I'd spice it up in here. Just a simple question. What's the most extra data you've been able to put onto a CD-R and what brand of media was it? You can use the overburning test feature in Nero CD Speed available here.

My highest was 2:25.27 on 16X Imation CD-R disks. My TDK24X10X40 obviously doesn't support 90mins.

My Samsung sm-308B was able to program about 8 extra minutes on Samsung CD-R 80 and SKC 75 CDRs.

This drive passes the Nero test up to 89:49.

In my opinion overburning is not too smart. So what you get a few extra minutes on one CD that CD may not be useable on another drive. For example I overburned an 83:00 CD on my Samsung drive but it's only readable on my Samsung drive. My notebook Toshiba drive just hangs on it, my car audio can't play it, my home stereo can't play it and my Sony Playstation 2 can't play it. So what good is overburning?

Suppose you use overburning to do a HD back and then you change computers. If your old CDR isn't available anymore and for some reason the new CDR can't read your backup CDs, your valuable backup is useless!!

Just my advise.
