Might be kinda dumb to say this.. dunno.. I can't really answer your question but how about just using a firmware that works for you. If u don't have any problems with your drive, why update...

i've problem... for example when i use ccd with the option "fast error skip" on, it doesn't start reading.... and that's a problem
