Did you over use it??
My DVD drive also has a weak lens due to overuse, i use it for converting from DVD to Divx, usually 7 hours a day for about 18 month.
Try to adjust the lens, i try that in PS lenses and it works, experiment a little bit. :D

IBM cost more than $100??
Thats rip off man!! 8O
Well, every manufacture has their own standard fee, bad for customer usually,...

Later,...

In Russia service cost is minimum $30. I will pay it in any case. Spare parts from IBM has price 2 times more than the same equipment from manufactore. So I will pay minimum $30 (may be withou result) and max $230 (for new CD-ROM). I can by CD-ROM for $100 without IBM service.
