Hi all having problems with second hand SM-352F CD - rom that I fitted to my dell dimension 3000 [windows XP] after fitting the code 39 error message came up and I repaired via registry as per instructions on another site. Now as you folks who know what they are talking about will know my 'D' drive will only read/play cds when the 'send to' icon appears 'D' drive not even mentioned I cant even drag files/photos to a disc my CD, writing wizard isnt even on the PC! any help would be appreciated

This is not firmware related at all.

Install a proper burning app and forget about crap drag and drop with burning CD!

I recently called for info from dell-point and found out they are now called Paromax? They seemed to have closed shop and moved in with this new company,does anybody know anything about this?

check the event viewer and devicemanager for some info/errors and follow this guide:
