Sims 2 Pets Firmware

Well, i just recently purchased Sims 2 Pets and my computer doesnt recognize the CD. The manual says that i need to update my firware of my disc unit (its in portuguese im trying to translate).. it says updates are available on the manufacturers or hardware page of the system where i can download them. Then it says, if i dont know the type of disk unit i have installed or if i dont know how to update firmware i should consult the documentation that came with my system. It also has a warning that if i do it wrong i could damage the disk unit.

Now. I dont know what kind of unit i have, i dont have the documentation and i have no idea how to update software. i dont even know if this is in the right section of this forum..
I guess my questions are, how can i find out the type of software I have, where can i get the updates, and if possible, can someone walk me through the update process so I dont damage my computer, or know a link which instructs me how to do so?

You can check what model drive you have by using DISCInfo.

i read that.. and i do not understand it. it talks about a program.. but how do i get the program, use it.. the 'how to' section isn't that helpful, since it doesnt really walk me through it, just kind of assumes i know what im dealing with.. maybe its just me, but i cannot wrap my head around this.

download discinfo, run the program, and it will tell you what devices you have on the system, post its output here for us, we cannot help you otherwise

ok umh, when i click on the CA09 the page that shows says CA08.. should i still go for it?

CA09 is latest, they have a flashing FAQ.
Just follow it.

thats what it says under my computer properties
