Hi

i have just bought a replacement CD drive for my laptop from ebay, after inserting it correctly I have found it does not work. By this i mean the drive is not recognised on startup (1 drive found etc....) or in windows. I bought the same model (Toshiba xm7002b) but am now aware there are different Rom versions to this model.

I have since been trying to buy a match for my exact faulty drive to no ovail. A seller on ebay has advised me that I have a problem with the master/slave configuration and may need to "just flash the old one or convert master/slave" which I am unsure how to do as there are no jumpers on the drive.

Another guy seems to think this drive should work as he says "bios model is irrelevant it can be updated and it should not need updated as you probably have a slave masdtert problem" but did not offer any info on how to do this .

Any help gratefully appreciated
