Hello everyone.
I have a TEAC CD-224E -A93.
The green LED on the front bezel stays on all the time.
I assume the firmware is hosed, but I am unable to flash using flashe3.exe (TEAC) or FW.exe (IBM updater-- cd-rom came out of a Thinkpad 390X).
The drive is not detected on the IDE chain.
Many of you have mentioned that there are flash tools that access the IDE port directly instead of depending on the drive being detected at boot up.
Please share links, application names, filenames, anything that will give me a hint as to where to download such a flasher.
I already know about mtkflash, but have not tried it since I do not think the cd-224e has Mediatech chips.
Thanks for your kind support.

What will flashing do for your drive? Probably nothing. But maybe you can flash by connecting to a desktop with an adapter.
Look into changing the drive's IDE location by shorting pin-47.
