Could you also use DevilsClaw's Flasher (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46137) to dump the firmware from your drive (both main and core parts) and share it with us please? That should tell us the internal build date of your firmware.

Yes Flasher is definitely compatible with your drive.
Without actually looking at the internal date of the firmware (which means we need to have a dump first) we don't know how old your firmware is compared with other OEM versions. Which laptop is your drive coming from by the way?

Yes I know what your drive is. Unfortunately what we don't know is how old your firmware is.

The problem in your case is that there are no other GN0x type of firmwares released yet. The good news is that there are other BT10N OEM firmwares available, which means that you could crossflash your drive to one of these firmwares. BUT... since LG drives do not report the internal firmware date when using DiscInfo or similar programs, the only way to determine how old your firmware actually is, is to dump it first and then have a look at it to see how old it is and compare that internal date with the internal dates of the other available OEM firmwares.

Your existing firmware might be newer or might be older than the other OEM firmwares available for BT10 drives, so unless you dump your firmware in order for us to have a look at its internal date, there's no way of knowing if your existing firmware is actually newer or older than the other existing firmwares ...

You can use Flasher to dump the firmware and also to flash an alternative firmware to your drive, but before flashing your drive with another OEM firmware is is very important that you dump the existing firmware first (both main part and core part) so you can revert back in the future if you're not happy with the newer firmware. One way or another you still need to dump your firmware, there's simply no safe way around that.

Your drive is OEM because its a slimtype drive, not sold seperately.

I hope I am not hijacking this this thread but I think I am looking for the same thing (RPC1 firmware) and may help the original poster.

I have an HP DV7-6000 CTO laptop that has a BD-RE BT10N Blu-Ray writer. I believe it is the same one mentioned in the title of this thread. I have used flasher to dump the main and core firmwares but have no idea on how to attach the files to this post...

Below is the Nero InfoToo info dump. I hope I followed all instructions. Someone please fill me in on how to provide the files you need. In the meantime I'll keep searching to figure it out on my own as well.

Thanks aruffell! =D>

You can upload the files to a free host such as mediafire.com (no registration required) and then post the link here.

Just to let you know your firmware is a GC04 and his is a GN07 so they are a different OEM I believe so most likely different firmware. Still thanks it is nice to have these firmwares.

THAT being said the original poster still needs to dump the firmware if he wants anymore help.

As requested a number of times in this thread, please use DevilsClaw's Flasher to dump the core and the main firmware parts of this drive and post them here.

There are very few OEM firmwares out for this drive, and since LG drives do not report the internal firmware date of their firmware, there's no way of knowing how old a given OEM firmware is, without actually looking at the firmware dump.

Is something not working with this drive & firmware?
