The question is if the drive even can recognize and read BD media or not, BD playing requires extra software, like VLC etc!

i have tried loads of software packages to help play Blu-ray discs, it also displays itself as a bd-rom drive in windows explorer. my computer has passed the BD & 3D tests by cyberlink
the software i have;
-WinDVD
-PowerDVD 11 Ultra
-VLC Media Player 2.0.1. (with the KEYBD.cfg file located in the correct dir)

i also read online that anyDVD HD would help, i have that and it does nothing.. well nothing useful.

(example that it is being picked up as a bd rom drive in my computer Image

when i place any BD in the drive it will attempt to spin up, stop and try again on a loop for about 20 times until it finally gives up.

Blu-Ray movies i have tried to play with the same result:-
- The Mechanic (2011)
- Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 1 (all discs)
- The Lincoln Lawyer (2011)

with powerDVD 11 Ultra i get this message (even though it is a bd drive and has a BD in the drive)

Sounds like an serious hardware failure with the drive or a system / registry issue.

Have you checked event viewer for failure entries?
Re-installing the drive should be the first task.

It could be a software problem ...
Check for upper / lower filters errors with imgburn (in imgburn -> Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order).

Bluray region coding is not related to DVD Region coding!!

For DVD is a drive related, for BD it's a software matter.
