Your drive is manufactured by LiteON and it seems to have a firmware which is not yet publicly available.

Therefore, it would be very useful if you could please download the Flash Utility from C0deKing's website (http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities/Flas ... -6.0.1.rar), dump the firmware (Read option) from your drive and post it here for us? You can upload it to a free host such as mediafire.com and then post the link in here.

Thanks!

Thanks CVS. I'll get an upload out on the firmware.

@Chef I fail to understand what part of my request is not clear enough!

Thanks for having a go at dumping the firmware and sharing it with us.

I had a look at the dump with a hex editor, and unfortunately it contains just random data instead of the expected data which should be inside of a LiteOn firmware ...

Unfortunately, it seems that you've got a drive manufactured relatively recently, one of those which is not properly supported by the Flash Utility. The Flash Utility is a bit old now and with C0deKing retired it lacks proper support for drives manufactured from about July 2011 or so onwards. It appears that it works correctly and it creates the correct firmware size, but the data inside is just random stuff.

Furthermore, unfortunately there are no other public tools which one can use to correctly dump the firmware from these drives.

I think this might be the same as Dell's PLDS DVDRWBD DS-6E2SH , here is a post with DiscInfo, A dump of the firmware(so you can compare the randomness if you would like) and a link to dell's firmware for the drive.

Here is a snippet from : viewtopic.php?f=12&t=49633&p=235520&hilit=6E2SH#p235520 , he also mentions another thread that might contain additional info.

There has been a thread ( viewtopic.php?f=32&t=47930 ) about this Drive, but it was not explicitly stated as a request, and so nothing happend.

Here is a Firmware Dump, I made with C0deKing's Flash Utility for LiteOn 6.0.1:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6p3nargwr1x6u ... -6E2SH.bin

Here is the Link to Dell's Driver Download:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER23285M/1/SE2_CD11.zip

The only difference are these lines:
Code:
For the Dell:
VENDOR : PLDS
MODEL : DVDRWBD DS-6E2SH
REVISION : CD11
VENDOR SPECIFIC : 2011/03/01 10:58

Code:
For the ASUS:
VENDOR             : Slimtype
MODEL              : BD  E  DS6E2SH
REVISION           : CL61
VENDOR SPECIFIC    : 2011/06/20 16:20
