There's no official release for that frequently updated Matshita drive so I will post a worked out solution. It may sounds a little bit weired but the choices is yours.
I have a Matshita UJ-8A8 drive installed in my MBP mid 2011 model. Since there's no RPC-1 firmware for that drive, I decided to modify the original firmware to make it RPC-1.
How? It's actrually pretty easy. You need a windows OS or at least a virtual machine running windows since no one is maintaining that flash tool for OS X. After that, you need a [url]Matshita dump tool[http://files.rpc1.org/index.php?act=view&id=5742] available from the forum and follow the instruction listed here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46246
The instruction worked for my UJ-8A8 drive and now it's region free, although the program is not intended to use for UJ-8A8 drive but the choices is yours. You may also brick your drive and I promise the risk is there(actrually my drive stopped working after flashed in virtual machine, but it worked again after a couple restarts. It's strange, isn't it. That's why i would recon a pure windows system because it won't freeze like what my virtual machine did at the end...
Anyway, Good luck for those people who wishes to become a lab rat. I successed with my drive, but DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU BRICKED YOUR DRIVE. Please post your result regardless if you succedd or not.
