Hi

I am trying to fix my MacBook Pro DVD player as it has locked after 5 zone changes.

Drive details are HL-DT-ST GSA-S10N
Operating system is Mac OS X Version 10.5.8

Details in system profiler are below:

HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N:
Firmware Revision: BP10
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media:
Type: CD-ROM
Blank: No
Erasable: No
Overwritable: No
Appendable: No

Wasn't sure how to get the output information as discinfo only seems to be for a Windows OS? Hope this information is enough. If anyone can help with the firmware I need it would be much appreciated

Cheers

Kat Wilkins

patch it within a windows environment with MCSE, and flash to your drive, should reset the counter, and act as an autoreset firmware

so this is nothing to do with the thread title, you have no GSA-S10N? seems odd in a dual core mac that you have this Combo drive, this will be moved if query is not as the title thread

I guess that the GSA-S10N is the slot where you put your CD/DVD. I do have this slot, for sure, on the right hand side of my macbook.

What do I have to do next, please?

thanks in advance.

no GSA-S10N is the model of your drive, your details are for a combo drive that you provided.

you can dump and flash the firmware within the mac.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46137

but you still need a windows environment to patch it to RPC1, with MCSE.
