On the Power-book-fr.com page they specifically urge you to use the Apple firmware update 2.1 before using ben11's rpc1-firmware (for Matshita drives). Does anybody know if that is correct? I couldn't find a hint for that procedure on this forum. When I bought the last build PB ever (15" high resolution) I had the Matshita drive exchanged for a Pioneer K-05. But this drive was never as good as my UJ-815 in my 12" PB and now it seems to be giving up totally. So I think of having it replaced with the original Matshita UJ-846C. Unfortunately I didn't look at the firmware, so I just can hope that it is one that ben11 has written a rpc1-firmware for.
