The purpose of this thread is to "collect" requests & more regarding Matshita/Matsushita/Panasonic firmwares/drives, to avoid confusion and prevent wild posting.

Please also note, that we here at RPC1 are not involved in patching these, and we cannot guarantee, that if you post a request or dump from your drive, that it will be done.

Member Ben11 was the patcher, but is not currently around

Hello,
I have a thinkpad T60 laptop computer with a Matshita UJ-842 DVD Drive. I found that that there are some mac-firmwares for matshita drives here, but not for the UJ-842. Would it be possible to make an UJ-842 firmware that enables bitsetting on this drive, that works on windows? If needed, I could provide a firmware dump.

This drive has now become available for purchase from distributors and no longer specifically a Mac item. It also suffers from the wonderful crippleware feature of reading at 2x when you attempt to archive a DVD to hard disk. My engineers and I can probably dump the firmware if it would be helpful.

VENDOR : MATSHITA

I keep seeing Matshita SR-8184-B & SR-8186-B slot loading DVD-ROM drives on eBay. I remember that there used to be a RPC1 firmware download available for the Matshita SR-8184-B & possibly the SR-8186-B too. Unfortunately both of these firmware downloads are currently offline. I have encountered one person in the Mac community who even has a iMac DV SE which came with a Matshita SR-8184-B slot loading DVD-ROM drive who would like to flash their drive to RPC1.

I have a '12 PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz with 1.25 GBs of RAM running 10.5.4. I would love it if somebody would please patch my Matshita CW-8123 Combo Drive's firmware to RPC1. I know VLC can play DVDs from any region as is but if my understanding of the situation we're currently in is right that's only half the equation.

I would also like to upgrade my '12 PowerBook G4 to a Pioneer DVR-K06 so I can burn DVD-Rs, DVD+Rs, dual layer discs & flash it to RPC1. Currently the download on The Dangerous Brother's site only works with PCs. Does anybody out there have a PowerBook G4 with a Pioneer DVR-K06 with the RPC1 firmware who could dump it for me?

If somebody could do that I could use DVRFlash to make one of those drives RPC1.

This drive is in a PPC MacMini:

Vendor: MATSHITA
Model: DVD-R UJ-845
Firmware: D8PB
RPC-2 (region locked)
State is SET
4 vendor resets left
3 region changes left
Region 4

There's a patch availble for this drive with the DBN9 firmware, but nothing seems to be available for firmware D8BP.

Thanks.

I'm lucky enough to travel different regions around the world and would like to watch local DVD's. My DVD drive's details are as follows:

Model: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-868
Revision: KA14
Serial Number: ########
Native Command Queuing: No
Detachable Drive: No
Power Off: Yes
Async Notification: No

The DVD drive sits in a Macbook Pro 2.53 15.4" which is running OS X 10.5.6.

My question is, is there firmware or software that I could use flush free-up my drive with?

Many thanks
