I have read many threads about the HL-DL-ST GDR8162B OEM drives, sadly most links to firmware flashers are dead/broken.

My actual problem is that the drive cant read the Crysis DVD properly (i got it working excactly twice out of ... ehmm 30 times or so in Win7 and WinXPsp3), this is from what i have read related to the overlength of the disk (6GB) or the securom7+ copyprotection or both and the outdated firmware of the drive. My Win7 Ultimate DVD works like charm within the LG HL-DL-ST GDR8162B 0015 like the Crysis DVD is working with other drives, both brandnew without scratches.

Im currently on WinXPsp3 or Win7x64 (dual boot), but a method for any operating systems like Vista32/Vista64/Win7x32/Win7x64 or even Linux that r currently used would be nice too, since many like me currently upgrade an existing tower to switch the os but like to retain hardware thats actualy not broken, but has limited useability through the lack of support from thier original manufacturers like LG.

I have no floppy drive but a CDRW burner.

Well enough words, I hope u guys could give some straight forward instructions on the Topic, thx!

i know :| , but thought i could spend my money on real advantages like a better cpu, or more ram or a larger hdd, u know somthing that comes with greater value, but buying the 'same' hardware just for a softwareproblem that could be solved .. indeed the was a solution on this forum with a modified 0020 firmware that could be flashed to any dirve - no test for compatiblity - that what it makes impossible to flash my drive - that enables further flashing to 0033, but links are DEAD - damnit !
