Hi
I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 which has been flashed with the wrong firmware (i dont know which one as i didnt do it).

I've tried flashing it with the correct firmware (1315) but get the message for the Primary Master and Slave as 'Not ATAPI Device' and 'Drive Not Connected'.

NB: On boot up, even with the DVD ROM removed, I still get the IDE#1 Error.

Are there any options open to me to resolve this issue other than resorting to the pin 47 & 45 connection? Would this even solve it?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Best regards
Angus

The drive needs to be recognised by the BIOS in order to flash the firmware.
If you do not have a notebook which does, you can alternatively use an IDE-adapter to connect the drive to a Desktop PC

Hi Backfire
Thanks for the info.

Pardon my igorance but how will connecting the DVD ROM to my computer help? Will it change the settings on the DVD ROM itself?

Thanks
Angus

A desktop will ALWAYS recognize the drive, so you can flash it...

You could also take the whole laptop apart and unplug the Hard Disk so that it won't conflict with the Toshiba drive. This might add new complications though if you needed to access files on the hard disk.
