I have the same problem as many (clicking sound when Battlefield 2142 disc inserted). I would like to see if I have the most updated firmware. Here is the output of DISCinfo: If I need an update what would I need?

Hm, bad then.

Have not seen an DELL OEM firmware for this drive.

Have you checked the DELL support site for an firmware update yet?

BTW, patched firmwares are here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GDR8161B
But I don't know if DELL specific firmwares are included.

I checked with DELL and they do not have any updates for LG. Any other ideas? Or am I out of luck getting this drive to work with the DELL?

The problem is really the stupid copy protection, you should probably flame the game vendor.

The most recent firmware is the HP/COMPAQ 0046, you should be able to flash the drive using FLASHUP /C /O /P

If that doesn't resolve the problem, you'll need to invest 20 EUR in a new drive.
