The Firmware Page

I have an SD-C2502 drive in a Compaq 1800XL381 Laptop. I have flashed it with the x011.hex as found in the firmware page. Then it didn't "see" any disc if i inserted a dvd in it but it could see the cds only. Then i tried to flash it back to the 1007 firmware. It was always saying: comparison ERROR. After sometime without any reason the drive could not see any cds or dvds. So i had nothing to lose and flashed it to the 1113 firmware and now it works fine, it "sees" dvds and cds BUT the programs - driveinfo & cdvdinfo "see" nothing like i do not have a drive in the system (all fields blank). So the dvd players cannot play the movie, and there is no region protection at all, but the Windows Explorer see the disc and the contents perfectly (and i think the drive now runs a little bit better than before). Strange things ha? Now i reflashed it to 1007 firmware but nothing changed. Who can say why the driveinfo program does not see anything? Thank you
