The Firmware Page

Does anyone know if there's a firmware patch around, i'm running win2k on Sony Vaio laptop

Don't hold your breath on this one. I have a problem with the UJDA710 firmware in my Sony VAIO, a problem I detected. (An intermittent on-insertion detect failure, CD shudders and stops altogether.) Sony and Panasonic are not taking responsibility, and are refuing point-blank to escalate the problem as a firmware issue. So thumbs down to both companies, you are hopeless, and employ useless people who don't listen, and think the solution to every problem is to reload Windows. GQ

I asked Sony if they would give me a fix for a long outstanding problem with my DVD-ROM. I suggested that an old firmware revision is the likely cause, and this is there response (below ===). Needless to say I was on the phone straight away!
