I dunno this is classified as abusive or appreciative... but I agree nobody should be giving s**t to anyone (except spammers), afterall, if you don't like the post, don't read/reply it. Anyhow, DVD drives costs so little now, $200 is reaching the DVD-RAM status. Flashing a DVD drive poses as much risk as flashing a motherboard, and yet there are many more people practice the latter, not only it costs more to replace, and you could end up with a big (or bigger) paperweight. That was a good enough reason for me to flash my DVD drive :) Another point worth considering is whether you need the RPC-1 flash or not. I can't think of a reason of RPC-1 for US guys, but the cost of DVDs in UK is much higher, so US DVDs saves a lot of money (and latest release as well). At the end of the day, its your decision to flash or not, but to me, I've already flashed two DVD drives (Pioneers 106s and 116) and experienced no trouble whatsoever, and in return of some relative minor hassle I ended up with two region-free drives, it was well worth the effort.
