Hello.

Can firmware upgrades to remove region blockers make old DVD-ROM drives (e.g., Toshiba DVD-ROM Drive SD-M1912/TMAG 16X/48X and Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1612 Rev. B 16X/48X ATAPI/IDE drive) not able to read burned CDs and DVDs?

no, the patched firmwares are not touching any option to play or read discs, it is purely the region coding

Thanks. Must be old drives (got them in 2003-2005) then even though I didn't use them much. :(
