 Hello people, i 'm new to this forum. i'm new to dvd burning too.

I have a question: I 'm currenlty using Matshita UJ 820S on my toshiba satellite laptop and seems to be having problems when burning w/ DVD+R discs (0 success).

Does anyone know what type of disks does my dvd drive use ? and if there are brands that are more suitable for my dvd drive to use when burning?
[*note: on the side of the eject lid there's "DVD+Rewritable" and "DVD Multi-Recorder" logo printed on it.] does multi-recorder give any clues of compatible medium ?

I 'm finding alot of problems with this particular model of dvd drive i'm using when reading user's comments online

Here is little info, it may help you anyway: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php ... 2#comments

Matshita burners are notoriously known for being very picky about the media they can use with good success, generally I'd try with TY (Tayio Yuden) and Verbatim media.

Thanks for the reply chef. The link was useful, now at least i have rough idea what it wants.

I was also thinking of getting Verbatim blank disks to try it, heard it's a good brand. I'm trying to find dvd+/- r disks that works for mine instead of rw disks because it is much cheaper in costs. That's why currently trial n-error risking alot of coasters on my desk. lol

Hi. Your problem might not be with the DVD disks, but with the software you're using. I used to think I couldn't burn anything but DVD-RAM disks on my Toshiba Satellite A100-326, which too has a Matsushita drive. I tried all sorts of burning softwares, from InterVideo WinDVD to Nero, to DVD Shrink, and I couldn't burn any disks.

Then I found out about "ConvertXtoDVD", tested it, and it works fine. At least on DVD-R disks. This software converts AVI, Mpeg or WMV files to DVD, and also merges them, in order to get up to four hours of a movie or TV episodes into one DVD. Download the trial version to see if it works. I see no reason why it shoudn't. Good luck!

I don't think that's the real problem.
The mistake you made is "I tried all sorts of burning softwares" which will only increase the trouble and also "DVDShrink" is no burning program.

If there should be burning apps recommended then that should be FREE ones in the first place, namely CDburnerxp and also the wonderful ImgBurn!

Also, your post sounds more like an advertising than a real help to me.
