Hi, i think that i need a newer firmware for this hardrive.

Toshiba MK3021GAS FW:GA124A SN:44PL5957T

Toshiba never released firmware for hard disk drives!

so can enybody tell me what to do...

i have instaled windows xp on laptop. once i get blue screan and then something happend. after reboot i have no access to my data... then i try to format this drive, with "Partition Magic" but there was some errors. so then i try to write 0 with "Toshiba Hard Disk Diagnostic". but not successfull....

i can detect drive but not write or read

Due to the high age of the drive I think it´s simply faulty.

I am sorry, my last post somewhere else #-o

Is it possible that, when i replace this HDD to another laptop it shows me that drive is some password secured? and i do not know what password is there i never set up it there

OK, which "other Laptop"? Brand, model???

And what is the exact error, where and when displayed?

IBM ThinkPad T21 asks me for password on boot, and i never set up any password there.

But maybe its set up by standard within the Toshiba Laptop BIOS.............

i put it into FS Amilo K 7600 and i run HirensBoot 9.7 http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd and there is tool Toshiba Hard Disk Diagnostic and Identity HDD under test:
Model: Toshiba MK3021GAS FW:GA124A SN:44PL5957T
1: unknown error code: 0244 36.

on thits HBCD is another utility "HDD Erase 4.0" and there is option to erase ata security set and with some universal password "idrive".
next in Toshiba Hard Disk Diagnostic and Identity HDD under test:
Model: Toshiba MK3021GAS FW:GA124A SN:44PL5957T
1: identity Hdd under test completed successfully OK

and option 2: Quick test (include read/write test
runction test O.K.
S.M.A.R.T check O.K.
Read test .........oooooooooo0000000000 O.K.
Read Write test

The HDD under test is defective. FAIL

option 3: smart short test
Executintg Short self-test
self-test routine in progress *********

i restart machine and i run again option 3 this test
