Suddenly my DVD stopped reading/recognizing DVD-/+R's, it only reads CDs, and also says it doesn't support AC3 sound, which is odd. Anyway, I thought by upgrading the firmware of this thing I'd be able to watch DVDs again. Here's the product I'm talking about, might be helpful.

Cleaning? How exactly do I do that? I mean, at least I don't want to cause any more damage. And assuming it's a "hardware failure", my only choice is to send it back to the laboratory or something?

Actually I don't know, I'm... not sure. I'm not even sure I've got some retail disc around. So, give it to me straight doctor, how much time does it have left?

test them, also the media you are using for DVD+/-R, if they are the same, and a cleaning disc doesn't help, then its hardware problem

I doubt it's a cleaning problem, because this DVD player is relatively new. Well I'll just go to where I bought it from, thanks anyway.
