Hi all:
Does anyone have, or are they aware of any updates for the Sony RDR-GX300 DVD Recorder.
The unit is a bit old, and has some serious limitations about which discs it will write to.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Thanks, but...I had already thought of that. They refused to help without my taking the recorder into a dealer and paying a hefty fee.
Assuming there ever was a firmware upgrade for the RDR-GX300, someone out there must have it...

Doesn't this have a DRU-500A or something inside it?

Well, the Service Manual lists it in the parts list
as a DW-U15A-S2, presumably by Sony.
I'd prefer to flash the drive using some kind of insertable CD or DVD
for the recorder appliance, but if not, I'd welcome firmware upgrades
for the above raw DVD drive. I loathe the thought of having to take
the recorder apart, remove the drive, insert it into a PC, flash it etc.

Friends:
I managed to find firmware for a number of Sony DVD Recorders, one of which supposedly applies to both the RDR-HX900 and the RDR-GX300.
Thanks for all your help.
Now onto the flashing!

Share the wealth man! How did it go? I would like to get my hands on the RDR-HX900 firmware since I know there is one. Where did you get it?
