I have the same problem. I use prolific's flash utility 2.3 and flash fail. Now, my enclosure is not detected anymore (USB or Firewire).
When I try to reflash it I have a message : "can't find or connect to the device".
On this topic, others guys have the same issue and nobody to help. The flash chip is pm39lv512.
I search for a flash tool (or howto) to restore the firmware when an USB device is not detected by the system.
Thank

Yes and ?..
When I connect through USB my enclosure is not detected, flash utility need autodetection. How to reflash firmware without this autodetection ? Maybe with another flash tool ?

same problem here... i've got two Iceberg enclosures armed with pl-3507 (250 and 320gb), no problem at all with both usb and fw400 on some power-pc macs, a lot of troubles when i switched to intel (macbook, mac pro, some hackintosh)... finder crashing everytime... on a mac-related forum i got the tip to upgrade the firmware from the download page at prolific site. i did it on a real pc (not on my macs using bootcamp or vmware) but the update failed and i'm no more able to use every version of romwriter. There is a workaround to fix it? Or i just can trash the enclosure? thanks in advance...
