Hi, I just found this forum and I think it is really helpfull. Congrats for all the work you have put on here guys. I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 and after the original dvd drive failed I installed the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA T40L. After that, when I boot the laptop, it takes a minute around post and then displays the message 0203: failure ide #2. After searching on the web, I found that this is due to the fact that the laptop waits for a dvd drive to be installed as secondary master, whilst the GSA-T40L is seen as secondary slave. So If I just convert it from slave to master, the problem will be solved. I found an article about doing this, but it involved soldering some pins, and I have neither the tools nor the knowledge to do that. Is there an other way to make the driver master? Maybe an other firmware or patch? On the firmware library here I found the firmware KQ01 but it is the same as mine, so I don't think it will do anything good. Also the lg site doesn't list the product. I also found some mentioning about a KU04 firmware, but I can't find it anywhere for download,......
Any help and suggestions appreciated guys. Thanks

You could try pushing the two pins out of the connector from the outside and then opening the drive cover and twisting them together. its a little crude but it might work. otherwise soldering is the way to go.
