Inside the file DVR212.ZIP the are 2 files:
1) S0013000.122
2) S0013001.124
I asume one is normal the other is kernel file but from differents ver FW.
So is it possible to crossflash, using 2 different version files?
Edited:
Thanks!!!,
I patch the normal file with MSCE utlity.
I crossflash a 212D to a 212 using:
dvrflash -ff [drive letter]: S0013000.122 S0013001.124
Now I have a Pioneer DVR 212 with
RPC1,
DVDRAM,
BITSETING
and READ SPEED INCREASE
Only is missing labelflash to be perfect.

Everytime you update just the normal part you have different versions of kernel and normal part on your drive. As Pioneer has not released a newer kernel, all older kernels delivered on drives must be compatible to the current normal part.

can i use this to crossflash my dvr-115bxl to a dvr-s15j??
if yes, what would be my parameter?
dvrflash -ff [drive letter]: A0014001.118 S0414431.118 (is this correct)
also, can you crossflash a dvr-112 to dvr-115?
thanks in advance

Did someone test the DVRS15J file?
I use this parameter:
DVRFlash.exe -vff K: S0414430.114 S0414431.118
After sending the kernelpart DVRFlash wrote:
Connection to device lost--
Now the 115D is dead.
The same problem had also another!?
Still can someone confirm??

Gaz, there is nothing wrong with the files, you have misflashed your drive, the DVRS15J files are for Sata drives, not the 115D ata model, if the drive is not seen in windows, then use dos version, if it is seen, try flashing with the 115 kernel and firmware

I guess flashing a PATA drive with a SATA bricked your drive. The only way that might be able to recover your drive would be using an external flash hardware and soldering the flash chip. But even that's not guaranteed to work. You will probably end up having to buy a new drive.

Safemode simply means that the drive stays in kernel mode. But with the kernel (and even main firmware) being SATA, access to the drive won't be possible because the drive's controller is not SATA

As said many times before, never use that option!!
Either use -v, -f or if you know what you are doing -ff!

there is no Kernel for the A15J at the moment, if it were to come available, you could do, what you ask

Need a little help flashing on Vista. I get the following error message after entering the following (in Vista safe mode using dvrflash ver 2.5):
dvrflash -ff h: s0013000.122 s0013001.124
Could not open device \\. \H:
I have no disk in the drive. Any suggestions?
Drive is Pioneer DVR-212D.
There is no disk in the H: drive so if I type h: I get "The device is not ready." Put a disk in and I can switch to it and see the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories so I have the correct drive letter. But it is my understanding that flashing is always done with no disk so I have not tried.

Actually, I did say I was using SAFE MODE. The Southbridge chip is an Intel ICH9R. DVDInfoPro has no trouble seeing the drive in normal mode as drive H: and reading firmware version an other drive info.

make sure by inputting DVRFlash -v , if it is H, then use the same command line but with DVRFlash.exe

Here is what I get.
dvrflash.exe -v
(response)
Commandline:
c:/../dvrflash.exe -v
Device parameter was not given, detecting all DVR drives:
No DVR drive detected!
I tried this without and with a DVD in the tray and get the same results. With a DVD in it I can switch to H: and type DIR and see the DVD directories AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. Device Manager lists PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212D at location 5 on the General Tab of DVD-RW properties.
